Susan Chan博士简介:

The New York Concert Review described Susan Chan as “a thoughtful musician and a sensitive player”.  Fanfare magazine and BBC Music Magazine praised her “great technical finesse” and “conspicuous refinement.”

Ms Chan has performed, adjudicated, and given masterclasses internationally.  Such performance venues include Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall; Chopin’s birth house in Poland; Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall.  She has also performed on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago and the Seattle International Piano Festival Recital Series.

She received first prizes in the Hong Kong Young Musicians Award Competition and the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale Competition, was named a winner in the Mozart Piano Concerto Competition at Indiana University, and was selected as a finalist in The American Prize in Piano Performance 2011.

Her critically acclaimed CD discography includes her latest recordings East West Encounter I and East West Encounter II on the MSR Classics label, which feature pieces by western and contemporary Asian composers.  This summer she recorded works by several major living Chinese composers for her next CD release in 2015.

Ms. Chan holds a Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University and MPhil and BA degrees from the University of Hong Kong.  She is currently an Associate Professor of Music and Piano Area Coordinator at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, USA.  She was awarded a 2013 Individual Artist Fellowship by the Oregon Arts Commission and is listed in the 2000 edition of International Who's Who in Music and Musicians Directory.  Her major piano teachers include György Sebök and Menahem Pressler.
